 Structural AMO

OMA and structural engineers Ove Arup developed an innovative structural scheme for Maison Bordeaux, where key elements within the structure serve as main load carriers while giving the overall design an appearance of ‘floating’.  Although the documentation available on this subject is somewhat illustrative, I believe it does not express sufficiently the genius and simplicity of the scheme.  It is the purpose of my final project to illustrate in different ways the expressive potential of such structural device, aided by images that will not try so much to literally reproduce the scheme, as to illustrate in more creative ways the representation of the structure in OMA’s characteristic constructivist / surrealist language.
